From January 2-7, 2012 Soccer Without Borders (SWB) ran a weeklong soccer camp in collaboration with local NGOs Rainbow House of Uganda and YARID (Young African Refugees for Integral Development). The Festival, which served over 150 refugee and Ugandan national children and youth, was organized to celebrate the accomplishments of the school year and to offer engaging and positive activities for youth who would otherwise be idle at home during the long holiday break.
The festival was a huge success, serving as a platform for social intergration and community building. Today, the festival was featured on the International Platform on Sport and Development's home page. Read the article here. The International Platform for Sport and Development provides a hub for sharing knowledge, building good practice, facilitating coordination and fostering partnerships between and within different stakeholder groups with an interest in the field of Sport and Development.
Another great article about the festival recently ran on Kawowo Sports, a Ugandan based website that provides coverage of all the happenings in the East African sports worls. Read the article here.
