Chicago, IL, USA is an SWB Camp Program

Program Background

In early 2012, SWB-Chicago planted the seeds for programming.  With a large refugee population in Chicago, refugee organizations in the city are stretched thin and always looking for ways to better connect with youth. In the Summer of 2012, SWB-Chicago hosted the Chicago Refugee Soccer Camp featuring weekend programs for girls (July) and boys (August) at Warren Park on the north side of Chicago.  The camp featured many of the core Soccer Without Borders program elements, including Soccer Play and Instruction, Team-Building Games, Off-field Education, and Cultural Exchange.

Program Description

In the Summer of 2013, SWB-Chicago will host the second annual Chicago Regufee Soccer Camp.  Building on the success of 2012, the summer camp will be expanding on participant and partner outreach.  As the Chicago program builds its camp programs, foundations are being laid for future growth into many of Soccer Without Borders core principles.
