Internships with Soccer Without Borders:
Become a Team Leader
Soccer Without Borders offers internships at its international program sites in Nicaragua, Guatemala and Uganda. Through the universal language of soccer, SWB interns immerse themselves in the communities where they work, learning, teaching and playing a key role in creating much needed opportunities for young people to play and learn.
Team Leaders (July 10, 2012 - June 22nd, 2013):
Working closely with our partners and local staff members, Team Leaders play a vital role in the implementation of Soccer Without Borders programs in Central America and Africa. Team Leaders' responsibilities are a full-time commitment.
Granada, Nicaragua Team Leader- Team Leaders in Nicaragua work with young girls ages 7-20 who are members of the program's three teams, Las Mariposas, Las Estrellas, and Las Nicoyas.

Kampala, Uganda Team Leader- Team Leaders in Uganda work with boys and girls ages 5-20 in both the city of Kampala and the town of Ndejje.

**SWB Team Leaders are at least 21 years of age and are unpaid volunteers. It is the responsibility of the intern to raise money for housing, transportation, food, immunizations and other travel related expenses. Depending on the site, fundraising should total between $5,000 and $8,000. Don’t be discouraged! We will support your fundraising efforts from start to finish. Before heading to project sites, Team Leaders from all sites will come together for pre-departure training with SWB staff in Boston, MA.

Summer Coaches will have similar responsibilities as TEAM Leaders. Summer Coaches are at least 18 years of age, are unpaid volunteers, and are responsible for raising between $2,000 and $4,000 depending on location to cover housing, transportation, food, immunizations, and other living expenses.
