2018 was the start of something special for the Afghanistan Women’s National Football Team. We kick started the year with a training camp held in Amman, Jordan from January 31st to February 6th. The camp consisted of two training sessions per day, two tactical meetings per day, as well as two FIFA International Friendlies against the Jordan FA. After not being able to train as a team for all of 2017, it truly meant a lot hearing we had a training camp at the beginning of 2018

Afghanistan's national women's soccer team began training in the Bay Area this week, playing a friendly against a Palo Alto club team Wednesday as it prepares for a major tournament in India. The existence of the team alone is quite an achievement. It was once forbidden for women to play sports in Afghanistan. When the soccer team formed in 2007, the Taliban tried to shut it down.
