Soccer Without Borders is honored to announce a new partnership with the Afghanistan Women’s National Team (AFFWNT). Serving as the team's fiscal sponsor, Soccer Without Borders will support their preparation for the the South Asian Football Federation Cup (SAFF) in India this November by providing an avenue for tax-deductible donations for travel, training, and equipment.
"For the last ten years, Soccer Without Borders has worked to build a more inclusive and equitable world through soccer. The determination of this team, many of whom have been forced to flee Afghanistan for their own safety, is an example to young people everywhere that with resilience, hope, and perseverance, anything is possible," said Soccer Without Borders’ Co-Founder and Executive Director Mary McVeigh. “We are thrilled to partner with the Afghanistan Women's National Team to help advance their goals.”
“Both Organizations found each other based on their shared belief that soccer is one of the most powerful ways to bring people together across the world,” said Kelly Lindsey, former U.S. Women’s Team member (2000-02) and current head coach of the AFFWNT. “The Afghanistan Women’s National Team is eager to develop a foundation of support that will allow the program to build a platform for consistent growth and development in the country. We believe Soccer Without Borders can help us pave the way.”
Working alongside current kit sponsor, hummel, both the Afghanistan Women’s National Team and Soccer Without Borders aim to change the world through sport. “The AFFWNT is eager to work alongside our new non-profit partner, SWB to make the dream of competing in this November’s SAFF Championships a reality,” Lindsey said.
