Soccer Without Borders is proud to announce the recent additions to our Board of Directors and National Advisory Board.
Francisco Queirό joins the Board of Directors after having served on the National Advisory Board and member of the Finance Committee for one year. Prior to joining the Advisory Board, Francisco was one of SWB Boston's most consistent volunteers, coaching the U-14 boys alongside former Boston Director, Lindsey Whitford for three years while a Ph.D. student at Harvard University. He went above and beyond as a volunteer, acquiring a youth coaching license so that he could better contribute on the field. Francisco is currently an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Nova School of Business and Economics, Universidade Nova de Lisboa in Lisbon, Portugal where he resides with his wife and daughter.
Martha Saavedra comes to the Board of Directors as a longtime SWB supporter and the Associate Director of The Center for African Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, where she is a tenured Professor. Her international research has many facets including studies on gender, development, and sport in Africa. She currently has projects on women's football around the Indian Ocean, and African athletic migration to the European Union. A veteran of Title IX battles, she has played soccer for most of her life and has coached boys teams for over 15 years.
Chris Sonntag brings a wealth of knowledge to the National Advisory Board as a seasoned sports business professional. Chris has held multiple marketing roles with FIFA and WME IMG’s Global Partnerships group. He has worked on sporting platforms and events across 40+ countries with major international properties and agencies. In the beginning of 2017, he founded Chris Sonntag Sports Marketing where he serves as a Global Sports Marketing Consultant.
Soccer Without Borders is delighted to welcome these new board members and extends much appreciation to those members currently serving.
