Soccer Without Borders (SWB) is pleased to announce Lindsey Whitford as its first-ever Managing Director of Programs. The Managing Director of Programs role is a new position that will oversee program quality, capture innovations and best practices, and steer our collective impact through programming the U.S. and internationally to contribute to the strategic goals of the organization. Lindsey will join the Executive Director, Director of Operations and Managing Director of Development on the Executive Leadership team tasked with overseeing the strategic development of Soccer Without Borders to maximize our mission.

Over the last nine years, Lindsey has been an integral part of Soccer Without Borders growth. Beginning her career at Soccer Without Borders in 2010 as a full-time volunteer Team Leader in Nicaragua, Lindsey then served two years as an Americorps VISTA in Monitoring & Evaluation before becoming SWB's third full-time U.S. employee in 2013. She has launched and served as Director in two U.S. locations and interim Director in another, and has extensive experience internationally through direct service in Nicaragua as well as program support and exchanges to Guatemala, France, and Nepal among others.

Beyond her program experience, Lindsey has shaped SWB as a whole through her role as our first M&E Manager, as Directors Council Chair, and as Acting Director of Programs in 2019. As a program leader, she has represented SWB to the Football for Good sector in Philadelphia, Atlanta, and Lyon. Many of these roles she has juggled simultaneously, creating impact at multiple levels at the same time.

In order to facilitate Lindsey's shift into this new leadership role, Soccer Without Borders will immediately begin the search for a new Director of SWB Seattle. Check out the position description here.
