Scenes from Soccer Without Borders Oakland Holiday Gift Drive

Thanks to the incredible generosity of the local community, SWB Oakland’s Gift Drive resulted in over 200 gifts distributed to participants and their families. Our staff collected and delivered wrapped gifts to 120 families, many of whom are recently-arrived refugees and immigrants who have been deeply impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Going into the winter programming break with a surge of Coronavirus cases across the state and a stricter stay at home order recently coming back into effect, we wanted to do something special for our players so they could feel connected to the SWB community and their friends during what is sure to be a difficult few weeks,” said Ben Gucciardi, Founder and Oakland Director.

“We were so inspired by the community's response, and truly appreciate all the people who went above and beyond to get gifts for our families. Giving is an important way of finding hope and staying positive, and we wanted to do something that would benefit both the givers and the recipients."
