Volunteer with Soccer Without Borders

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Soccer Without Borders. SWB Interns and volunteers play an important role in the success of our work. Please read about our Intern programs and volunteer opportunities below.

Long Term Intern Program:

We are now accepting applications for our Long Term Intern Programs in Nicaragua, Guatemala and Uganda from August 10, 2010 to June 10, 2011.  Working closely with our partners and local staff members, Interns play a vital role in the implementation of Soccer Without Borders programs in Central America and Africa. Intern responsibilities are a full-time commitment and include the following:

•    Understanding and implementing the best practices of sports-based youth development
•    Organizing and running soccer sessions, camps and leagues
•    Designing and implementing educational activities with youth in the programs
•    Working with schools to recruit new program members and youth leaders as needed
•    Working with local staff and partners to expand and improve the program
•    Managing budgets in collaboration with local staff and reporting back to SWB staff in the US

SWB Long Term Interns are at least 21 years of age and are unpaid volunteers. It is the responsibility of the Intern to raise money for housing, transportation, food, immunizations and other travel related expenses. Depending on the site, we recommend that Interns raise between $4,000 and $8,000 for a 9 month position.  Don’t be discouraged! We will support your fundraising efforts from start to finish. Before heading to project sites, Interns will come together for pre-departure training with SWB staff, time and location to be determined.

Summer Intern Program

With positions available in Nicaragua, Guatemala and Uganda from June 1 to August 15, 2010, Summer Interns will have similar responsibilities as Long Term Interns. Summer Interns are at least 18 years of age, are unpaid volunteers, and are responsible for raising between $2,000 and $4,000 depending on location.
